Summer Drafts Workshops of Transversal Vivacity

When was the first time you started chatting to a perfect stranger? Or a foreigner? Maybe you were in a train carriage, or in a queue at the post office. Or maybe you can’t remember? In today’s cities it’s more and more complicated to find occasions of encounters outside used and usual environments, and the consequences become apparent in the form of less and less adventurous cities. If sociality is the necessary condition for a political life, what does the contemporary hindrance to the encounter tell us?

From the 1st to the 11th of July, Summer Drafts offers a series of seminars, walks and workshops to brighten up the connections between communities living in Bolzano and bring some fresh air into the city!

The workshops are led by artists, researchers and organisers engaged in different European social movements. The workshops, all with different approaches, aim to stimulate new behaviours and reflect on the sense of a “contemporary conviviality”, an expression proposed by the English theorist Paul Gilroy to imagine the most vital form of the coming global citizenship.

Each workshop is hosted by a different local association in order to provide a further occasion to exit the usual circuits.

A militant acustic investigation; a cartographic expedition to create an emotional mapping of the Piani neighbourhood; the transformation of a neglected piece of land into a urban garden ; a workshop to learn how to live the dimension of the group with increased awareness, and one to rethink the relation between our bodies, our desires, and the objects around us; and finally a discussion on the right to escape that unites native citizens and migrants coming from everywhere.

Summer Drafts is kindly supported by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano/Bozen and the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano
